Description
Kids’ Merino Wool Beanie
Designed for comfort and performance, our Merino Beanie for Kids delivers the best of both worlds: softness that soothes and protection that lasts. Merino wool’s natural breathability keeps your child’s head dry, while its odor-resistant and UV-protective properties make it ideal for active days outdoors.
Compact and featherlight, this beanie fits easily into any backpack — ready for school mornings, park play, or mountain weekends.
Care
Turn inside out. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with a wool-safe detergent. Do not bleach. Lay flat or hang to dry.
Shipping & returns
Free UK delivery on orders over £49. Ships in 1–2 business days. 30-day free returns on unworn items with tags.
Kids' merino
Soft merino for kids who never stop moving
Non-itchy merino that keeps kids warm on the slopes, breathable at recess and odour-free after a full day outside. Machine washable and built to survive the season.
THE FABRIC
Why merino wool
Merino wool moves sweat away from your skin as vapour and lets it evaporate from the fabric, so you stay dry and comfortable whether you are hiking, commuting or skiing.
Merino fibres naturally resist the bacteria that cause odour, so you can wear a base layer for several days, on the trail or while travelling, and it still smells fresh.
Wool can absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet. In damp British weather it keeps insulating where cotton and polyester leave you cold.
Merino absorbs UV radiation: our lightweight layers offer UPF 25 and the midweight and heavyweight options UPF 50+, handy on long days in the hills.
Merino wool is naturally hard to ignite and self-extinguishes without melting onto the skin, unlike synthetic base layers.
Merino is a natural, renewable and biodegradable fibre. Sheep grow a new fleece every year, and a worn-out merino garment breaks down instead of shedding plastic microfibres.
FAQ
Kids' merino base layers: FAQ
What is this beanie hat best for?
It is made for school ski trips, winter sports and cold days. Like all our merino, it stays warm when damp and resists odour, so you can wear it for longer between washes.
Is merino wool itchy for children?
No. We use superfine merino that is soft against the skin, so children who refuse scratchy wool jumpers are usually happy to wear it all day.
What should my child wear on a school ski trip?
A merino thermal top and bottoms under their ski jacket and salopettes, plus merino socks and a beanie. A 250gsm set keeps them warm on the slopes without overheating in the chalet.
How do I choose the right kids' size?
Sizes are based on age and height. Base layers should fit close to the body, so choose the size that matches your child now rather than buying several sizes up. See the size guide.
Can kids' merino go in the washing machine?
Yes. Wash inside out at 30°C on a wool or delicate cycle and dry flat. Keep it out of the tumble dryer to prevent shrinking.
Is merino good for kids who get hot and cold quickly?
Yes. Merino regulates temperature and wicks sweat, so it keeps active children comfortable when they run around and warm when they stop.
