Which merino weight is right for you?
GSM is grams per square metre — how much fabric there is, not a warmth rating. Every weight is the same soft 17.5-micron Australian merino: it wicks sweat before it turns cold, insulates when it is cold and ventilates when it is warm. Lighter fabric breathes and dries faster; heavier fabric holds more heat when you stop moving. Choose by season and by how hard you will be working.
Warm & hot weather · 60°F+ / 15°C+ — and high effort in any season
Best for: summer hiking, running, cycling, hot-climate travel, everyday tees and office wear; the next-to-skin layer under a 250 when you work hard in winter
Pick this if: you want a shirt that stays fresh for days, dries in an hour and keeps you cooler than cotton in the heat — or you simply run hot
Think twice if: you will mostly be standing still in the cold; on its own a lightweight layer has little insulation to offer

Think twice if: you overheat easily on hard uphill efforts — a 165 or 190 underneath, 250 over it, is the better system

Best for: ice fishing, hunting stands, camp at altitude, winter mornings spent waiting rather than walking, a house that never quite gets warm
Pick this if: warmth matters more than breathability, you are chronically cold, or your winter involves long spells standing still outdoors
Think twice if: you will be working hard — it is too warm for a sweaty climb, which is exactly the point
Shop 320 GSM →A base layer works by sitting close to the skin, where it can move moisture — loose is not more comfortable, just slower. Between sizes? Size down for a next-to-skin layer under a shell, size up to wear it on its own or over another layer. Merino stretches with wear and springs back after a wash. Heavier weight is not itchier: itch comes from coarse fibre, and every weight here is the same superfine merino.

Why merino wool
Merino wool moves sweat away from your skin as vapour and lets it evaporate from the fabric, so you stay dry and comfortable whether you are hiking, commuting or skiing.
Merino fibres naturally resist the bacteria that cause odour, so you can wear a base layer for several days, on the trail or while travelling, and it still smells fresh.
Wool can absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet. In damp British weather it keeps insulating where cotton and polyester leave you cold.
Merino absorbs UV radiation: our lightweight layers offer UPF 25 and the midweight and heavyweight options UPF 50+, handy on long days in the hills.
Merino wool is naturally hard to ignite and self-extinguishes without melting onto the skin, unlike synthetic base layers.
Merino is a natural, renewable and biodegradable fibre. Sheep grow a new fleece every year, and a worn-out merino garment breaks down instead of shedding plastic microfibres.

How do I stop a merino T-shirt getting holes?
Wash it inside out at 30°C on a gentle cycle, dry it flat, and avoid rough rucksack straps and velcro rubbing the same spot. Store it clean and folded to keep moths away.
I am 6"2 220 pounds and typically wear an XL shirt. I read a lot of reviews before purchasing and I saw many ppl said they run small. I lift weights and have an athletic build. I purchased these for a bike trip this summer so I didn't want them to be too lose. Glad I went with XL. Not crazy tight but definitely a bit more form fitting around the arms and shoulders. I am happy with the fit and feel and I'm sure they will be great for my trip.

Love love love these shirts! The only downside is that if you get a solid print, the little balls, that will inevitably start forming since it's a garment made of wool, will be somewhat visible. They can easily be removed with a Razor though.I already have 3 and I'll be definitely buying more of these.

I like this shirt a lot. Wear it to work under my hospital scrubs. Temperature adaptable although they do run the hospitals too cold sometimes and I do need a jacket. I never get too hot though. I'll purchase more.

This is my wife's account. I purchased 2 of these shirts. The black and a green shirt. I did the Fjallraven Classic Sweden trek in August. I wanted a merino shirt that would perform like merino should; keep me warm, wick sweat and dry fast. The trek was 110km (70miles), in the northern area of Sweden way above the arctic circle. We had temps in the mid 60's day and night with weather from rain, mist, breezy, humid and one day of warmer low 70's. I wore the black shirt during the day on the while trekking and the green to sleep in at night so I had a "fresh" shirt to sleep in. The shirts performed amazingly. Even after 5 days of weather and sweat, the shirt didn't smell one bit. If the shirt did get wet from sweat or rain, It dried really fast. I never worried about becoming chilled or needing to change during the day. I would definitely purchase the shirt again and completely worth every dollar.

I bought this for my trip to Singapore after reading many reviews. The shirt works great in the heat, not itchy in the slightest. It’s slightly smaller than I expected, but still looks great. Upon my return, I’m buying a polo and underwear.

First, I could find the ones I wanted to order with the understanding I would get 20% off the order but each time I attempted to select one in my size (xl), it indicated they were out of stock. Then when I compromised with other colours, it all went well until I tried to make the purchase. I could not complete the purchase of these shirts. Said that something went wrong, I needed to refresh the page. Tried that several times until I just got frustrated with it. The 20% is good until the 19th, this is the 15th. I guess that is one way they don't have to honor the discount. The warranty is still good on the two t-shirts I did get so at least I have those. I attempted to contact the company but it never went to anywhere I could contact them. Could not leave this message on their site so decided to add it here.

Traveled with 4 Merino shirts for 5 weeks. Hung the one I wore up each night. Didn't wash any of them the whole trip. Always looked good and didn't smell. I now can travel light. Love it.

As stated in the title, the shirt is nice. It’s 100% merino wool. Wears well. The ad said that a free pair of merino wool socks is included in the order but that’s false. Tried to contact the shop about it but Amazon makes it very difficult to dispute items now unless I were to return the shirt.Anyway, please send me the promised socks! Haha.

A friend recommended that I try merino wool. So, I bought 6 merino wool t-shirts to take with me on a month-long cruise and trip around France. As an experiment, I wore one for a few days during the summer and I was very pleasantly surprised with how comfortable it felt. They are light weight and feel great. I would like to say that after I bought them, I had a bit of a disagreement with the shop, but they were very responsive in working to resolve my issue. They deserve lots of credit for being so focused on trying to address my issue. So, in conclusion, this appears to be a great product and an equally great shop.
