Description

Men's Merino Wool Thermal Set

Layer comfortably throughout the winter season with this premium Men’s Merino Wool Thermal Set designed for warmth and flexibility. Merino wool naturally traps heat while remaining breathable enough for indoor wear and physical activity. Moisture-wicking fibres keep sweat away from the skin to maintain dryness and comfort all day long. Natural odour-resistant properties reduce unwanted smells and help the set stay fresher between washes. Soft hypoallergenic fibres provide exceptional comfort against sensitive skin.

Lightweight stretch fabric allows comfortable layering without restricting movement. Anti-static performance, UV protection, and renewable wool fibres complete this high-quality base layer.

Care

Turn inside out. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with like colours and a wool-safe detergent. Do not bleach. Lay flat or hang to dry — do not tumble dry.

Shipping & returns

Free UK delivery on orders over £49. Orders ship within 1–2 business days. 30-day free returns on unworn items with tags attached.

THE FABRIC

Why merino wool

01Moisture wicking

Merino wool moves sweat away from your skin as vapour and lets it evaporate from the fabric, so you stay dry and comfortable whether you are hiking, commuting or skiing.

02Odour resistant

Merino fibres naturally resist the bacteria that cause odour, so you can wear a base layer for several days, on the trail or while travelling, and it still smells fresh.

03Insulates when wet

Wool can absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet. In damp British weather it keeps insulating where cotton and polyester leave you cold.

04UV protection

Merino absorbs UV radiation: our lightweight layers offer UPF 25 and the midweight and heavyweight options UPF 50+, handy on long days in the hills.

05Flame resistant

Merino wool is naturally hard to ignite and self-extinguishes without melting onto the skin, unlike synthetic base layers.

06Renewable

Merino is a natural, renewable and biodegradable fibre. Sheep grow a new fleece every year, and a worn-out merino garment breaks down instead of shedding plastic microfibres.

FAQ

Men's merino thermal sets: FAQ

What is this 320gsm thermal base layer set best for?

It is a heavyweight 320gsm merino layer, best for deep cold, winter camping and ski days. Compare every weight in our merino weight guide.

Which sizes are in stock?

Available to order now: , S, M, L, XL, XXL, XXXL. Our merino is true to size and designed to sit close to the skin; see the size guide for measurements.

Is this thermal base layer set warm enough for skiing?

Yes. 320gsm heavyweight merino is our warmest weight, ideal under ski clothing in very cold resorts or if you feel the cold.

What is included in a merino base layer set?

A long sleeve thermal top and matching long johns in the same fabric weight and colour, so your core and legs stay equally warm.

Is a set cheaper than buying the top and bottoms separately?

Yes, a set is priced below the two pieces bought individually. If you want different weights or colours for the top and bottoms, use the build your own set page.

Which merino set is best for skiing?

For most skiers in the Alps or Scotland a 250gsm midweight set is the right choice. Choose 320gsm if you feel the cold, ski in very low temperatures or spend long periods on chairlifts, and 165–200gsm for spring skiing or ski touring.

What is the advantage of a zip-up set?

The half-zip top lets you vent heat quickly on climbs or in a warm lodge without taking a layer off, then zip up again when you stop.

How do I choose the size for a set?

Top and bottoms come in the same size, which suits most people. If your top and bottom sizes differ, build your own set instead. Measurements are in the size guide.

I took 320g set and its not very thin and has some weight so I think I got what I purchased (more Wool)I am feeling some itching when wearing without any undergarments on top so I think I need to use it wearing something below.Feels like I am set for USA Winters

Very nice quality. 100% merino is the only way to go. Merino tech offers quality at half the price of other brands.

Have not recieved

I have not received my 2 pairs of thermals yet. I was supposed to get them a week ago. I sent 2 emails to Merinotech and haven't gotten a reply back. Guess next week I'll have to contact my credit card company to get anything resolved.

Undisputed champion of luxury and warmth

As soon as I starting wearing this base layer and was forced out into -9 degree weather in January, I realized what a brilliant product this is. Not only does it feels like you have your softest and most luxurious sweater, the one you put in its own drawer so it doesn't get squashed, you realize the temperature is below zero but I wasn't cold. I am not one of those polar bear types that digs cold weather either, which is why I immediately bought two more sets before they run out of them. A must have for people who hate cold weather. I also have the 250 weight set, and if you are worried that the heavier set won't be as soft and wonderful as the lighter set, rest assured that this is every bit as soft and comfortable as the other weight.

The base layers work fantastic in the Chicago winter, I have never been so warm. It's a very lightweight layer which doesn't add bulk to your clothing, the sizing is great and I am just so excited to order more.

Great stuff! Nice and soft, and warm! Only request is that, since I wear them for skiing, I'd love for them to have stirrups on the bottoms (vital) and thumbholes on the sleeves (very-nice-to-have).
