Warm, dry and stink-free

Merino where it matters most — socks, beanies, gaiters and underwear in a soft, durable blend. Breathable, naturally odour-resistant and comfortable for days on the trail.

THE FABRIC

Why merino wool

01Moisture wicking

Merino wool moves sweat away from your skin as vapour and lets it evaporate from the fabric, so you stay dry and comfortable whether you are hiking, commuting or skiing.

02Odour resistant

Merino fibres naturally resist the bacteria that cause odour, so you can wear a base layer for several days, on the trail or while travelling, and it still smells fresh.

03Insulates when wet

Wool can absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet. In damp British weather it keeps insulating where cotton and polyester leave you cold.

04UV protection

Merino absorbs UV radiation: our lightweight layers offer UPF 25 and the midweight and heavyweight options UPF 50+, handy on long days in the hills.

05Flame resistant

Merino wool is naturally hard to ignite and self-extinguishes without melting onto the skin, unlike synthetic base layers.

06Renewable

Merino is a natural, renewable and biodegradable fibre. Sheep grow a new fleece every year, and a worn-out merino garment breaks down instead of shedding plastic microfibres.

FAQ

Merino socks, beanies & accessories: FAQ

What is this walking & hiking socks best for?

It is made for walking boots, hillwalking and everyday wear. Like all our merino, it stays warm when damp and resists odour, so you can wear it for longer between washes.

Are merino wool socks good for walking boots?

Yes. Merino hiking socks cushion your feet, wick sweat and keep insulating when damp, which helps reduce the moisture that leads to blisters on long days in boots.

Do merino socks keep feet warm in winter?

Yes. Merino traps warm air even when your feet sweat, so it keeps toes warmer than cotton socks in cold, wet conditions.

What size merino socks should I buy?

Choose your size from the size guide. If you are between two sizes, pick the larger size for boots and the smaller one for trainers.

What is a merino neck gaiter used for?

A neck gaiter (snood) can be worn as a neck warmer, face cover, headband or beanie, so it replaces several accessories for cycling, skiing, running and walking the dog on cold mornings.

How do I wash merino socks, beanies and boxers?

Turn them inside out and machine wash at 30°C on a wool or delicate cycle, then air-dry. Avoid tumble drying and fabric softener to keep them soft and in shape.

Good utility socks.

These are good socks. Not as soft as the Bombas I was using, but those kept getting holes. We’ll see how these do.

Great hiking sox!

I originally bought just a pack of 3 pairs of these sox because I fractured my leg and the protective boot I had to wear was causing terrible itching where my regular sock was not covering my calf so I wanted the extra length of a boot sock and natural, soft wool. (I'm an 80 yr old widower and the leg has since healed, thank you.)
I loved them so much, I bought another 6 pairs to get me through another Minnesota winter. They wash easily with no shrinkage. They are not thick and heavy like my wool ice fishing sox. They keep my feet dry and comfortable all day. I LOVE 'em!

Company lied about holiday discounts

MerinoTech doesn’t actually offer holiday discounts— the holiday price is the same as the price any time of year. So since they’re dishonest I decided not to lie to them.

I am a women's size 7 and purchased the size 4-8. They were huge! But I gave them to my husband and he really likes them. They are on the thinner side, but they do seem to actually have a high wool content and seem to be well made.

Ran slightly large, but after washing and drying, they shrank slightly. They are not like the usual Merino wool socks I buy, which have more foot compression and cost a lot more, but they are still nice. Merino wool is a unique wool that actually keeps your feet comfortable whether it is cold or hot. Love it.

They do what Merino socks do, they're an excellent value, and I would definitely buy them again.

I got a pair of these socks as a free gift with a shirt and loved them so much I bought more. These are thicker and warmer than some of my other daily wool socks so they are perfect for cold weather outdoor work/play.They aren’t too tight at the lower shin like others I’ve had and returned. They have washed up easily (I hang dry them) and no issues with wear so far.

I was gifted three pair when my mom bought the wrong size. Wore them to a hockey tournament in Vermont and wow, they're perfect. They keep your feet warm and dry, don't smell after wearing them in waterproof boots for two days straight (I forgot to pack enough socks), and are also super soft. They hold up their shape, are easy to get on and off, and seem to be resistant to developing holes.I ordered another 3 pack and am impressed. Worth the money and actually a great value. I've spent more on hiking socks that don't hold a candle to these.
